What is jar testing?
Jar testing is a method of simulating a full scale water treatment process, providing system operators a reasonable idea of the way a treatment chemical will behave and operate with a particular type of raw water. Because it mimics full-scale operation, system operators can use jar testing to help determine which treatment chemical will work best with their system’s raw water.
BurrowX was contracted to assist a water treatment facility improve its water softening process. The facility’s feed water was California aquifer water with high amounts of calcium and silica hardness. The facility wanted to reduce the hardness in the water to reduce scaling and fouling of downstream equipment.
BurrowX performed an engineering assessment of the facility and identified ways to improve the softening process. Ultimately jar testing was done onsite to identify more efficient chemicals for client’s process.
